MM: Marriage Monday { Pray Together}

When was the last time you prayed with your husband?  Together, alone?

It's been said that "A couple who prays together, stays together".

I'd like to add one more element to this famous quote.

The praying couple also stays in love with each other and with God

"Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.  For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”
 Matthew 18: 19-20

Praying together helps couples to deepen their relationship with the Lord.  It confirms your unity in your marriage covenant.  You are powerful as a couple when you agree in prayer!  During prayer, you are sharing your hearts with each other before the Lord.  It gives you the opportunity to take your fears, hurts, and needs before the Lord together in unity.  This is a time for perfect intimacy to occur between you both.  It's a spiritual bond that should not be taken lightly.

Most of all, praying together keeps your marriage strong.  Why do we wait until we are in trouble to pray?  Bitterness, unforgiveness and sin creep slowly into our marriage over a period of days, weeks and months.  It's like a dripping faucet in the kitchen.  After a while, the home will be flooded with disaster from that one continuous drop of water.  We must be consistent in prayer to prevent disaster.  Being covered in prayer equips us for whatever lies ahead.

Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving
Colossians 4:2

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5: 8

{Blessing Each Other During Prayer}

In my "5 Days of Blessings For the Family Series", I share how you can bless your spouse by praying the Word of God over their lives.    I made free printables of each blessing for the husband and the wife that you can use during your prayer time.  Click on the links below:

I encourage you to not see praying with your husband as a challenge, but as a true blessing.   Take time to pray together as a couple every day.  Jesus, will move in your marriage!  Trust Him.

Blessings and Shalom,
