MM: Marriage Monday {Finding Mercy in Your Marriage}

Last night I had a dream about God's abounding mercy.  It was so beautiful.    I saw how much God loves us, more than we can comprehend.

     John 3:16
 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

When I awoke from the dream, I realized that I could relate this message to marriage and today is MM: Marriage Monday, so be blessed woman of God!

How do you find mercy in your marriage?

The same way God extends mercy to you, with loving kindness and forgiveness.

Adonai is a God of mercy and love.   He is good.  He is forgiving to those who call upon Him.

Psalm 86: 5

For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,

And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.

Psalm 136: 1-9
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the God of gods,
 For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords,
For His mercy endures forever:
To Him who alone does great wonders,
For His mercy endures forever;
To Him who by wisdom made the heavens,
For His mercy endures forever;
To Him who laid out the earth above the waters,
For His mercy endures forever;
To Him who made great lights,
For His mercy endures forever—
The sun to rule by day,
For His mercy endures forever;
The moon and stars to rule by night,
For His mercy endures forever.

In a marriage, what does it look like when you extend mercy?

 You Forgive.

Matthew 18:21-22
 Then Peter came and said to Him,
“Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”
Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

Jesus told us to forgive 70 x 7!  Now, that's a bunch.  Literally He was saying to forgive always.

Ephesians 4:31-32

 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.   Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Forgiveness is the key to finding unconditional love and mercy for your spouse.

After an offense has been done against you, don't let bitterness or anger take root in your heart.  No matter how hard it may be, forgive.

It's not by our strength, but it's by God's love in us that gives us the strength to forgive.  Ask the Lord to help you forgive.  He will show you.

A marriage that is a Godly marriage shows the fruit of forgiveness and restoration.

Sometimes the hardest person to forgive may be our spouse, but if we are a child of God, we must extend mercy.  We must forgive each other in order to be forgiven by our Father.
You will see the love of God move in your heart as you forgive.  Every day is a new opportunity to forgive!

You can find mercy in your marriage by choosing to forgive my friend.

I challenge you to begin today.

Your marriage depends on it!
